Music Ministry

The music program at Summer Memorial Lutheran offers a variety of ways for members and friends to participate in the worship experience.  We try to cater to all emotions from laughter and glee to tears of joy.  Our choice of songs follow the liturgical calendar.

Chancel Choir:  Throughout the year, the chancel choir provides anthems at the worship services.  This is a group of loyal members who simply love to sing! We rehearse anthems, new hymns, new settings of the service, and even fun songs to do at congregational gatherings.  The choir, including other members of the congregation,  also presents a Christmas cantata each year on the Sunday before Christmas.  There is always room for more singers and all are welcome to give the choir a try.  We meet weekly at 7 pm on Thursday nights.

Summer-Chimers Handbell Choir: Summer Memorial is blessed to have a full three-octave set of handbells.  We meet on Wednesday nights at 7 pm, but take a little time off during the summer months.  This group of ladies, and men can ring bells too, enhance our worship service anytime they ring.  We accompany hymns, provides preludes, music during communion and offertories.  The group is open to anyone interested in ringing, and you do not have to be able to read music to be in the handbell choir.

Children's Music Program: The children of the church participate in music through their songs at Vacation Bible School and the Christmas Program.  The children are so important to our future and we want them to be able to participate.  When called upon, they always do an outstanding job.

There is something for everyone in the music program-----come and join us!  You will surely be glad you did!
