BINGO! Tuesday, October 27 at 10:02

In lieu of our Summertymers, we are hosting drive-in Bingo on Tuesday, October 27 at 10:02 in the morning. Come have some fun, honk if you win, and leave with a little Halloween treat. Hope to see you there!

Shoebox collection

It’s Shoebox time again! Social Ministry is asking for small toys, melanin plates/cups, reusable water bottles, bar soap, school supplies, socks, t-shirts, or other items to fill a shoebox. If you cannot fill an entire box, bring what you can! We’ll fill them! Also suggested is $9 per box for shipping. By Nov 15, leave completed boxes or items in basket near collection plate or in hall next to Manna house donation. We’ll have Girl Scout Troop 990 pack them for delivery to the collection station November 16.

TIME CHANGE! - November 1

Beginning Sunday, November 1, we will move our worship time back to the regular 10:30.

COVID-19 Task Force Update

COVID-19 Task Force Update

Based on the current situation, the task force concluded it was best to operate as we currently are, with only Council, Covid Task Force, and members carrying out essential tasks (for example, teller teams) meeting inside the building. Everyone who enters the building is expected to wear a mask. We are placing sanitizing stations near the entrances that are used and signs throughout the building reminding people of best practices.

Currently, Newberry County has a high cumulative incidence rate and is a hotspot in the state. Once Newberry County drops into DHEC’s ‘medium’ category for 14 consecutive days, the committee will meet and reassess our course of action. We appreciate your prayer and support as we move forward together.

Sunday Worship Service at 9:00 AM - Church Parking Lot

Keep in mind we are gathering at 9:00 AM in the church parking lot to beat the heat. Print out the bulletin and/or find a copy of the current bulletin on our Liturgy for Worship page.

Please enter on Berry Street and follow instructions of our parking attendants. We ask you to follow best practices and to stay in your car. Out of care for the most vulnerable, please do your part and remind those with you to do the same. We look forward to seeing everyone on Sunday!

Church Offerings & Gifts

There are several options for getting offerings to the church. Offerings can be made either through the mail or dropped off in person to the church office. Phyllis is working in the office a few days a week in the afternoons – call on a Monday afternoon, and she’ll let you know when she will be at the church for you to drop it off. You can give online via through our church's website. Click here or visit our church website and click e-givingat the top right of the website. We also plan to have a way to give at our drive-in service.

Please prayerfully consider God's call to serve in the ministry of our Church Council. During the Annual Con-gregational Meeting for Election of Council, nominations will be presented to elect Three (3) new Council members. Our Constitution provides that all Confirmed, Communing and Contributing members are eligible to serve on Council; that the names will be posted two weeks prior to the Election Ballot.

We will use an Ecclesiastical Ballot. All eligible church members are on the ballot. To have your name removed from the ballot contact Phyllis by email ( or calling the church office by November 1, 2020.

We will also be encouraging everyone to share stories from Camp Kinard, Coastal Retreat, or any other outdoor ministry site that's impacted your life.

A Request for Carol and Shirley

In response to Pastor James’ list of Ministry ideas to connect with each other during this special time in our church ministry, we are compiling a booklet to explain the images and memorials of our stained-glass windows. We have been searching our church records and have been unable to find information for the following families whose names appear on windows:

L. A. Boozer and Corrie Boozer
Mary P. Kibler
Henry J. Long and Annie Boozer Long
R. S. Shealy

If anyone has information, or can furnish a resource, for these families, please see Carol Bickley or Shirley Aughtry.

MANNA HOUSE October Food Focus: Peanut Butter & Jelly

The Backpacks are Back!

With the beginning of the school year, our backpack ministry providing meals for students to take home on the weekends continues! Summer Memorial has committed to matching last year’s commitment of 10 backpacks. This will provide weekend food for 10 students at Boundary Street Elementary School who might otherwise be without sufficient food over the weekend.

While we have some supplies to carry us over from last year to get us started, new donations for this year are needed so we can match our commitment. Check should be made to SMLC Backpack Ministry. You may also give through your regular offering envelope marking it as Backpack Ministry. Thank you for your prayerful consideration.
