KidzBells - Practice at 9:15 a.m. on Sundays Beginning December 1

KidzBells will practice at 9:15 a.m. on Sunday mornings beginning on December 1 and will play during the service on December 22 and 24.

Handel’s “Messiah” - Dec. 6th at 8 PM at Wiles Chapel

The Newberry College Singers invite members of the community to join them in their upcoming performance of Handel’s “Messiah.”

The performance will take place Friday, Dec. 6, at 8 p.m. in Wiles Chapel, on the Newberry College campus. The Dec. 6 performance is free and open to the public.

For those interested, rehearsal will be Saturday, Nov. 23, from 10 a.m. until noon in the W. Darr Wise Rehearsal Hall, room 218 in the Alumni Music Center. A dress rehearsal will be held Monday, Dec. 2, at 6:30 p.m. in Wiles Chapel.

ELCA Good Gifts Special Offering - December 8

On Sunday, December 8, the Lutheran Men in Mission will take a special offering to help the children of our congregation support the ELCA Good Gifts and give livestock to farmers in developing countries. LMM has made the commitment to match the first $200 collected to increase the impact of our children’s offering, with the support of the whole congregation.

Congregational Meeting - Sunday, December 15

A Called Congregational Meeting will be held on Sunday, December 15 for the purpose of voting on a new roof for the office/fellowship hall building.

Children's Christmas Play - Sunday, December 22 at 4:00 p.m.

The Children's Christmas Play will be on Sunday, December 22 at 4:00 p.m.. It is titled the 12 Symbols of Christmas. We will start play practice this Sunday, November 24 at 4:00 p.m. We will also practice on the following Sundays at 4 pm - Dec. 1, 8 and 15. All children and youth are invited to participate. “Secret Santa for Seniors” - Wendy’s

The Secret Santa for Seniors tree is located inside Wendy’s and contains the names of some Newberry County senior citizens who could use a little something extra for Christmas. You may stop by Wendy’s and choose an angel from the tree or you may donate individual items that will supplement the angel tree gifts. Suggested items are blankets, new shirt, socks, gripper socks, paper towels, tissue, toilet paper, lotion, soap, canned goods, Word Search or Crossword Puzzle books. Please bring you gifts to church by Wednesday, December 11. A box is in the narthex.

WELCA Circles - No Meetings in December

Linder/Sigmon Circle will meet on Thursday, January 2 at 10:00 a.m. at the church.

Kathryn Luther Circle will meet on Thursday, January 2 at 7:00 p.m.

Circle of Friends will meet on Friday, January 17 at 7:00 p.m.

Summer-Tymers - Gatherings will resume in January 2020

There will be no Summer-Tymers gatherings in November or December. Gatherings will resume in January 2020.

Backpack Ministry 2019 - 2020

This will provide weekend food for 10 students at Boundary Street Elementary School for 36 weeks of the school year. This is the 6th year we will sponsor this ministry to feed some community children who might otherwise be without sufficient food over the weekend.

Donations are now being accepted. This will be an ongoing project through May 2020. Check should be made to SMLC Backpack Ministry. You may also give through your regular offering envelope marking it as Backpack Ministry.
