Women's Ministries

Summer Memorial's women's ministry consists of groups, or circles, working for the needs and interests of women.  We have three Circles which seek to represent all women of  Summer Memorial from a variety of age groups.  All women are a part of Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (WELCA)  and can enhance their gifts through our circle/group opportunities.

Sigmon/Lindler Circle meets in the Fellowship Hall at 10 am on the first Thursday of the month except June or July.

Kathryn Luther Circle meets at a member home at 7:00 pm each Thursday following the first Sunday of each month.

Circle of Friends meets at the church at 7 pm on the third Friday of each month.

Summer Memorial women are actively involved in benevolent projects and programs for the church and community. Each year a Mother/Daughter/Friend banquet is held during Mother's Day weekend; Golden Age Sunday is celebrated to honor our senior citizens; special recognition for our confirmands and graduates each year; World Day of Prayer in conjunction with Epting Methodist is held each year during Lent; and,  visiting shut-ins are just a few of the projects of this ministry.

In addition two off-site retreats are held each year at the SC Lutheran Retreat Centers at Coastal Retreat Center in Isle of Palms (Charleston), and Camp Kinard in Leesville, SC.

Each year a life membership is given to that lady who has demonstrated outstanding service to this ministry.  In addition, a memorial recognition is given to the family of a deceased woman in the congregation who exemplified these same characteristics.

Summer Memorial actively participates in the SC Synod and Heartland Conference WELCA.  LEARN MORE
